BIOGRAPHY

Zach Heyde (b. 1993) is a composer, pianist, and YouTube creator based in Nashville, TN. His music draws from artists like Thomas Newman and Ólafur Arnalds, blending delicate piano & strings with lush electronics and ambience.

Zach showed musical interest at a young age, beginning piano lessons at age 7 and composing annually for the Young Composers Concert in Darien, CT. After graduating from high school, Zach entered The Hartt School of Music in 2011, studying composition & jazz piano while actively collaborating with his classmates. He composed actively for film, theater, and choir during this time; his 2012 choral work My Heart O God is Steadfast received its premiere in St. Mark’s & St. Peter’s Basilicas in Rome.

It was at Hartt that Heyde began his creative partnership with composer/pianist Frank Tedesco. After creating a wild rendition of "Sleigh Ride" for YouTube, the duo was hired part-time for Alfred Music Publishing. Over the years Frank & Zach continued their collaborations, forming sheet music webstore Stems Up Sound and founding Frank & Zach Piano Duets--a YouTube channel with over 100k subscribers to date.

Aside from his work as a composer, Zach performs actively as a pianist for recording sessions and gigs. He joined hip-hop/soul band Broca’s Area in 2014, performing on their debut album Clarity; the CT Music Awards awarded the group “Best R&B/Soul Funk” & “Best New Band” of 2015. Zach can also be heard on John Paris Hare’s self-titled EP, and performed throughout New England with singer-songwriter Griffin Anthony throughout 2015-2016.

After his graduation from Hartt, Heyde served as a music educator for the Darien Arts Center & Crescendo Music, hosting an annual composition camp for aspiring young composers. He relocated to Nashville in September 2016, shortly thereafter releasing his ambient EP, Spectral. He is currently composing the soundtrack for the upcoming full-length film The Hard Candy Kid, directed by the Beals Brothers.
